What the adapter does

This short cable converts a USB-C Power Delivery source into a fixed 20 V DC output on a 5.5 x 2.5 mm centre-positive barrel plug. An internal trigger module negotiates the 20 V profile with the supply so the connected device receives a steady voltage. It is intended for hardware that specifies an 18-20 V DC input and uses the matching barrel jack.

Who it suits and who it does not

The adapter suits owners of laptops, monitors or other gear that accept 18-20 V through a 5.5 x 2.5 mm connector and want to power them from a compatible USB-C PD charger. It will not work for devices that require a different voltage, a different barrel size, centre-negative polarity or more current than the PD supply can deliver at 20 V.

Behaviour under sustained load

Because the cable simply passes the negotiated 20 V from the PD supply to the barrel connector, its thermal and voltage stability under continuous draw depend entirely on the power supply’s own regulation and current limit. The built-in trigger does not regulate current, so prolonged operation at the supply’s maximum rated output will reflect the supply’s performance, not the cable’s.
