The iStarUSA BPU-350HD-BPL fits three 5.25″ front bays and provides five hot-swap trays for 2.5″ or 3.5″ drives. It targets server builders who need dense, removable storage in a standard chassis. Lockable aluminum trays and a single 80 mm fan with speed control complete the package.
12 Gb/s SAS and SATA ceiling
The backplane passes SAS I, II, III and SATA I, II, III signals up to 12 Gb/s per port. Drive performance will not exceed that interface limit, so newer SAS-4 or PCIe-attached drives cannot run at their native speed. Five SATA cables are included for host connection.
Five-bay capacity limit
Only five drives can be installed regardless of how many 5.25″ bays the chassis offers. Builders needing six or more hot-swap slots must use a different enclosure or add a second rack. The unit supports drives up to 14 TB each.
