IOGEAR
Controls up to 256 computers from a single console with 16 USB and PS/2 ports and 2048 x 1536 video resolution
The IOGEAR GCS1716 is a 16-port USB and PS/2 combo KVM switch designed for administrators who need to control multiple computers from a single console. It supports access for up to 256 computers when cascaded with compatible units. This rack-mountable device suits data centres and server rooms where space and peripheral consolidation are priorities.
Verify that each target computer provides either a USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse interface alongside a VGA video output compatible with the SPHD-15 connection. The console side requires a monitor, keyboard and mouse that connect via the single SPHD-18 port and the USB 1.1 Type A port. Ensure a DC 5.3V power source is available for the unit.
The steel chassis measures 17 inches wide by 1.75 inches high by 6.25 inches deep and weighs 8.3 pounds with accessories, fitting a standard 1U rack space. Sixteen SPHD-15 female ports on the rear handle computer links using proprietary combo cables that carry video, USB and PS/2 signals. Front-panel push buttons, hot-key sequences and an on-screen display provide daily port selection without software.

The switch provides 16 SPHD-15 female ports for computers and one SPHD-18 male console port; cables for the computer connections are not included and must be sourced separately.
The console uses a single SPHD-18 connector that carries both USB and PS/2 signals, so the choice depends on which legacy cables you attach to that port.
The switch supports up to 2048 x 1536 at the console port with DDC2B EDID pass-through, and AutoScan can cycle through the 16 ports at 1 to 255 second intervals.
