Versatile Connectivity for Data Centres

This OM4 multimode duplex patch cable uses LC/UPC connectors on both ends to link transceivers, patch panels and switches in entrance facilities, telecommunications rooms and data centres. The 3 m length suits rack-to-rack and cross-connect runs where short to medium reach is required. Bend-insensitive multimode fibre reduces attenuation when the cable is routed around tight corners.

Practical Limits of OM4 Multimode

OM4 fibre supports 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet over the distances defined by the relevant IEEE standards for 50/125 µm multimode cable. The 2.0 mm jacket is rated OFNR for riser installations but is not armoured or shielded, so it must be protected from crushing or sharp bends beyond the fibre's bend-insensitive specification. Violet jacket colour identifies the OM4 grade at a glance.

Straightforward Installation with Test Report

Each cable ships with a factory test report confirming insertion loss and return loss, so verification can be completed before the link goes live. LC connectors use a push-pull latch that seats with an audible click; the main installation risk is contaminating the ferrule end-face, which degrades return loss. Clean the connectors with a lint-free wipe and isopropyl alcohol before mating to avoid this issue.
