Server BMC adapter

The Innocard PCIe Gen4 to U.2 SFF-8639 gender changer connects a U.2 SSD to a PCI Express 4.0 x4 slot for server BMC management. It includes an SMBus switch at address 0x71 and an I/O expander at address 0x41 for U.2 SSD power disable control. The card supports PCIe PERST# for out-of-band remote SSD reset. Built-in bidirectional voltage-level translators handle WAKE# and CLKREQ# signals over longer cables.

Sustained signal integrity

A PCIe 100 MHz clock buffer drives longer trace lengths and cables without degrading the Gen4 link. The SMBus components and voltage translators are rated for latch-up performance exceeding 100 mA per JESD 78 Class II. Dual 12 V hot-plug power circuits use eFuse protection with a programmable 6.5 A current limit and thermal shutdown. A 12 V output employs a 30 V N-channel NexFET with 32 mOhm resistance for efficient power delivery.

Industrial thermal range

The adapter is designed for industrial-grade temperature ranges and manufactured in Taiwan. Integrated eFuse protection and thermal shutdown on the 12 V hot-plug circuits guard against overload faults during continuous operation. The clock buffer and voltage translators maintain stable signalling over extended trace lengths without active cooling. The 30u” SFF-8639 connector ensures reliable contact in demanding environments.
