Builders who require a fixed M.2 slot without EDSFF capability should consider a simpler riser. Systems lacking SMBus management infrastructure cannot use the remote reset and power-control features. The card occupies one PCIe x4 slot, so platforms without a free x4 lane cannot accommodate it. Buyers needing dual-drive support must use two separate adapters.

The integrated ReDriver applies up to 17 dB gain on 16 GT/s differential pairs, while the 100 MHz clock buffer drives longer cables. SMBus addresses 0x6C and 0x71 enable BMC control of PERST#, WAKE# and CLKREQ# buffers. Independent 12 V and 3.3 V enable pins manage EDSFF and M.2 power domains.
