This 6-inch top by 12-inch bottom empire shade uses a spider fitter that sits on a lamp harp and is secured with a finial. The hardback parchment construction with a true gold lining reflects light upward and downward while the black exterior limits side glow. Heavy brass and steel frames provide structural rigidity and a substantial feel.

Spider fitter constraints

The shade requires a harp for mounting and fits best with a 7-inch harp; a 1-inch spider drop positions the shade relative to the socket. Because the third dimension is the slant height of the whole shade, not the vertical drop to the fitter, the shade will not suit fixtures that need a clip-on or uno fitter.
