Check your ports and cables first

You need a separate Mini DisplayPort cable for the female side of the adapter; it is not included. The source device with Mini DisplayPort must support DP Alternate Mode for video output. Thunderbolt 1 and 2 ports will not work with this adapter. The adapter only carries video; it cannot be used for data transfer.
