Four-port USB 2.0 to RS-232 adapter

The GearMo USA-FTDI4X-NUT adds four DB9 serial ports to a desktop, laptop or other mobile device through a single USB Type A connection. It uses an FTDI chipset and requires no external power supply, drawing what it needs from the host port. The three-foot cable keeps the adapter close to the computer while the DB9 connectors face the equipment being controlled.

Throughput drops when all four ports run simultaneously at the maximum 921.600 bps setting because the shared USB 2.0 link becomes the bottleneck. The three-foot cable length also limits placement in larger cabinets.
