This Fel-Pro rear main seal set provides a direct replacement for worn or leaking crankshaft seals on compatible engines. It is intended for professional mechanics and experienced DIYers performing bottom-end reseal work. The kit contains the components needed to address oil leaks at the rear of the crankshaft. Transparent colouring allows visual inspection of the sealing surfaces before installation.

Replacing a failed rear main seal

A deteriorated original seal allows oil to escape between the crankshaft and block, leading to low oil levels and potential clutch or flywheel contamination. Installing this set restores the sealing barrier when the existing part hardens, splits or extrudes under pressure. The job is worthwhile once external leaks are confirmed at the bell-housing area and simpler gasket fixes have been ruled out. No other engine seals or bearings are included in this package.

Fitting the seal during engine assembly

The set installs between the crankshaft rear journal and the block or rear main cap, depending on engine design. Correct alignment of the sealing lip and proper lubrication during fitment are critical to prevent immediate damage. Builders must ensure the crankshaft surface is free of grooves or corrosion before pressing the new seal home.
