Plug into USB 3.0 with UASP support

The adapter plugs directly into a standard USB 3.0 Type-A port and requires no driver installation on modern operating systems. UASP protocol is supported on Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 or above and Linux, letting the host offload command queuing to the drive controller. A 3.5-inch drive draws power from the included supply while a 2.5-inch model can often run from the port alone.

Up to 70% faster reads with UASP

When both host and drive support UASP, read throughput can reach 70% higher and write throughput 40% higher than conventional USB 3.0 at peak performance. The link tops out at the USB 3.0 5 Gbps ceiling, so the fastest SATA III SSDs will hit that bottleneck. Drives without UASP fall back to standard bulk-endpoint transfer and lose the speed advantage.
