Two-device Ethernet splitter

This adapter divides a single RJ45 connection into two 100 Mbps outputs so two devices can share one cable run. It works with Cat5 through Cat7 cabling and suits computers, hubs, routers, switches, set-top boxes and ADSL or digital-TV equipment. A pair of splitters is required at each end of the link to provide two simultaneous connections. The oxygen-free copper contacts and shielded housing resist electromagnetic interference.

Replaces running a second cable

Use this splitter when adding a second device in a location that already has one Ethernet drop and pulling new cable is impractical. It upgrades a single-port outlet to serve two endpoints at 100 Mbps each, which is sufficient for general browsing, streaming and office tasks. The jump is not worth it for gigabit-dependent workloads such as large file transfers or high-bitrate local streaming because each leg is limited to 100 Mbps. A second physical cable or a powered switch is the better choice when full gigabit throughput is required.

Handles two 100 Mbps streams

Each splitter provides two independent 100 Mbps channels that do not interfere with one another, giving comfortable headroom for typical internet access, video conferencing and HD streaming on both devices. The bandwidth runs out when either device demands sustained gigabit speeds, such as NAS backups or uncompressed 4K media playback over the local network. The shielded construction protects the signal from external noise, but the 100 Mbps ceiling remains the hard limit for every connected endpoint.
