What this adapter does

This CableDeconn adapter lets a USB-C laptop with DisplayPort Alternate Mode 1.4 drive an external DisplayPort monitor at up to 8K 7680x4320 60Hz or 4K 3840x2160 144Hz. It is aimed at users of recent MacBook Pro models from 2018 through 2020, Dell XPS and Surface Book 2 who need a single high-resolution display connection. The cable length is 0.25 m and a separate DisplayPort cable is required.

What to verify before ordering

Your USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode 1.4; plain data or charging-only ports will not pass video. The monitor and the source device both need to support 8K for that resolution to appear, otherwise the link falls back to 4K. The adapter is built for the Japanese market so documentation and any on-screen menus are in Japanese and the unit is rated for 100 V AC environments. No warranty coverage applies outside Japan.

Build and daily use

The short 0.25 m pigtail keeps the desk tidy but means the adapter sits close to the laptop, so cable strain on the USB-C port is minimal. A male USB-C plug goes into the host and a female DisplayPort receptacle accepts your existing DP cable, giving a straightforward male-to-female gender change. Because the device draws power from the host port, there is no external power brick to place.
