This 14-foot Cat5e cable provides a Gigabit Ethernet link for routers, switches, patch panels, keystone jacks, PCs and PoE devices. Its non-booted RJ45 plugs are designed to seat easily in high-density patch panels and tight keystone jacks where a molded boot would not fit. The slim profile improves airflow and keeps cable management tidy in structured cabling, data centers, server rooms and offices. It uses 24AWG bare copper conductors in four twisted pairs with 50-micron gold-plated contacts.

Practical limits of the Cat5e standard

The cable is tested to 350MHz and supports 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet over the full 100-meter channel distance defined for Cat5e. Because it is unshielded UTP, it remains susceptible to electromagnetic interference in electrically noisy environments. The Cat5e standard caps bandwidth at 100MHz for 1Gbps operation, so 10Gbps speeds are not supported regardless of the higher test frequency. Runs exceeding the standard channel length will degrade signal integrity and reduce reliable throughput.

Tool-free install with density caveats

Installation is a simple plug-and-play process requiring no tools; the non-booted plugs insert and release with a standard latch tab. The low-profile design excels in crowded panels but offers less strain relief than booted connectors, so cables pulled at sharp angles may stress the termination. Ensure the latch clicks fully into the port to avoid intermittent contact. The bare copper conductors meet RoHS, UL and ETL verification for safety compliance.
