USB to RS-232 DB9 serial adapter

This new USB-to-serial adapter uses a Prolific PL-2303 chipset to connect legacy DB9 equipment such as modems, barcode scanners, label writers and industrial terminals to a modern USB Type-A port. It supports Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2000, 98, Mac OS X 10.6 and later, and Linux 2.4.0 and later. Driver installation is required once, after which the device works plug-and-play. No external power supply is needed.

Six-foot cable with triple shielding

The 6 ft cable employs tinned copper conductors of 24/28 gauge and triple shielding to maintain a reliable 1 Mbps data rate. The fixed USB Type-A male and DB9 male connectors eliminate loose gender changers, reducing strain on ports during daily bench or rack use. Because the adapter draws power directly from the USB bus, there is no separate power brick to route or lose. Note that this is a serial data link only; it cannot drive a VGA or DisplayPort monitor.

Prolific driver support across legacy

The bundled Prolific driver package enables the adapter on every listed operating system from Windows 98 through Windows 11 and Mac OS X 10.6 onward, letting a single cable serve mixed-vintage environments. An 18-month manufacturer warranty covers the cable and electronics, providing a defined replacement window for mission-critical serial links. The package contains only the cable and driver media; no null-modem adapter, gender changer or additional software utilities are included.
