Shielded CAT5e patch cable

This 6 ft shielded CAT5e patch cable is built for Fast Ethernet networks that run in electrically noisy environments. The four twisted pairs are wrapped with Mylar tape, a drain wire and an overall aluminum/Mylar shield to block EMI and RFI interference. Gold-plated contacts rated at 50 microns ensure reliable conductivity for voice, data and audio/video signals.

Sustained-load shielding performance

The full foil shield and drain wire maintain signal integrity over long cable runs where fluorescent lighting, motor equipment or dense cable bundles create continuous interference. Connectors are tested to 750 insertion and extraction cycles, so repeated patch-panel changes or equipment moves do not degrade the shielding or contact quality. Molded slimline boots add strain relief without adding bulk in high-density racks.

CAT5e 100 MHz bandwidth limit

Tested to the CAT5e standard at 100 MHz, the cable supports Fast Ethernet speeds but does not carry the higher frequencies required for Gigabit Ethernet or beyond. Installations that need 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps throughput must use a higher-category cable. The 6 ft length suits short patch connections within a rack or between a wall outlet and a desktop device.
