A slim 28-AWG Cat6 patch cable with snagless RJ-45 connectors, 15 ft long, saving over 50% space versus 24-AWG cables
This 15 ft red Ethernet patch cable uses 28-AWG stranded conductors to save space in crowded telecom rooms and high-density data centres. Its 0.161 in diameter is almost half the size of a typical 24-AWG cable, delivering more than 50 % space savings in bundles and patching connections. The snagless boot design simplifies installs, moves and changes while protecting the RJ-45 latch.
Passive copper construction means zero power draw, no fan noise and no thermal load in normal use. The reduced cable diameter improves airflow through rack pathways and around patch panels compared with thicker alternatives. CM-rated PVC jacket meets standard in-wall and plenum-adjacent fire requirements without active cooling.
Replaces standard 24-AWG Cat6 patch cords when rack density, cable management space or port visibility are constraints. The jump is worth it when you need to reclaim vertical manager capacity, route cables without a dedicated manager or fit more connections in existing trays. Not suited for runs that require shielded cabling or PoE budgets beyond what 28-AWG conductors can carry.

Route the slim 28-AWG cable to the patch panel or network device, then press each RJ-45 male connector until the snagless boot clicks; the step installers miss is verifying the latch is fully seated so the boot cannot catch on adjacent cables.
Inspect the snagless boots and strain-relief mouldings for cracks after moves or MACs; replace the 15-ft patch cord if the boot splits or the latch no longer holds, otherwise no scheduled maintenance is required.
The 28-AWG conductors reach their current-carrying and insertion-loss limits before the 250-MHz Category 6 rating does, so sustained heavy loads are constrained by the thinner wire gauge rather than the bandwidth specification.
