Dual Microphone Expansion Board
The Bazarc Respeaker 2-Mics board adds stereo voice capture to compatible Raspberry Pi models including Zero, Zero W, B+, 2B and 3B. It uses a WM8960 low-power stereo codec with two microphones positioned on opposite sides of the PCB. The module targets developers building AI voice assistants or speech recognition projects. No Raspberry Pi unit is included with the board.
GPIO Header and Grove Connectors
The board mounts directly onto the Raspberry Pi 40-pin GPIO header for power and data transfer. Two on-board Grove interfaces allow additional sensors or actuators to be attached without soldering. A 3.5 mm audio jack and a JST 2.0 speaker connector provide analogue audio output options. Three APA102 RGB LEDs and a user button give immediate visual and tactile feedback for voice applications.
Upgrade from Single Mic HATs
Builders moving from a single microphone HAT gain true stereo pickup and dedicated hardware encoding via the WM8960 codec. The extra microphone improves beam-forming and noise suppression for far-field voice commands. Projects that do not require stereo recording or hardware DSP will not benefit from the additional cost and board space.

Questions about this item
What power draw should I expect from the WM8960 codec when the board runs continuously?
The board uses a low-power stereo codec based on the WM8960, so its draw is minimal and well within the Raspberry Pi USB supply budget.
How hot does the expansion board get and does it need active cooling during all-day voice processing?
The passive design has no fan; heat stays low because the WM8960 codec and two microphones draw little power, so no extra cooling is required.
Which Raspberry Pi models and headers must I already have to mount and use this board?
Compatible with Raspberry Pi Zero, Zero W, B+, 2 B, 3 B, 3 B+ and 4 B via the standard 40-pin GPIO header.
