Situational awareness camera

The Axis M5000-G combines three 5 MP sensors with a built-in PTZ unit to give total situational awareness across indoor areas up to 400 m2 (4300 ft2). It delivers a 15 MP panoramic overview while the PTZ provides 10x optical zoom at HDTV 1080p for detailed inspection. Operators can switch from wide view to close-up with a single click on one monitor. Indication lights help deter unwanted behaviour in retail and large indoor spaces.

Coverage and zoom limits

The three fixed sensors cover the full 400 m2 area continuously, so no blind spots remain during normal monitoring. When finer detail is required, the PTZ head zooms optically up to 10x at 1080p resolution, but its field of view narrows as magnification increases. The camera cannot simultaneously zoom on multiple regions because only one PTZ module is present. Autofocus speeds the transition, yet very distant or low-contrast targets may still reach the optical limit of the 10x lens.

Z-Wave integration constraints

Wireless I/O connectivity uses Z-Wave Plus® to link with up to six compatible devices such as door or window sensors. An event from any paired device can trigger the PTZ to move to a preset position automatically. The link is limited to those six nodes and the Z-Wave protocol itself, so devices using other wireless standards cannot interact directly with the camera. No other interface or protocol is supported for this automation function.
