Direct-attach cable for 40 GbE links

This passive QSFP+ DAC cable connects switches, routers or servers that run 40GBASE-CR4 over twinax copper. It is pre-coded for Ruckus equipment and functions identically to the OEM part in any MSA-compliant port. The three-metre reach suits rack-to-rack or intra-rack links where fibre is not required. Buyers who need longer than ten metres of copper reach cannot use this cable.

Sustained throughput with no active components

Because the assembly is passive, it draws no power and adds no latency beyond the copper medium itself. Signal integrity is maintained for the full 40 Gbps rate across the entire length without re-timers or equalisers that could introduce jitter under continuous load. The twinax construction keeps crosstalk low during prolonged high-utilisation periods. Installations that require forward-error-correction offload or active signal conditioning will not gain those functions from this cable.

MSA-compliant connectors and factory serialization

Each end carries a QSFP+ plug wired to the multi-sourcing agreement pin-out, so it seats in any compliant cage without mechanical interference. A unique serial number and part identifier are programmed into the EEPROM, giving immediate visibility in inventory tools and eliminating link-negotiation conflicts. The passive twinax jacket is stiff enough to hold a dressed bend but flexible enough for dense patch panels. Environments that demand armoured or plenum-rated jackets will need a different cable type.
