Practical limits of the USB-C PD3.1 interface

A single USB-C device on C1 or C2 can draw up to 140W when using a PD3.1-compatible cable. With both C1 and C2 active together the maximum split is 100W on C1 and 65W on C2, allowing two laptops to charge at once. Total output across all ports is capped at 240W, so adding more devices reduces per-port power. Dell laptops cannot reach their maximum charging speed due to protocol restrictions, and any device above 30% battery will see reduced current to protect the cell.

Installation and common issues

Place the charger on a stable desktop, connect the supplied power cord and press the touch button to wake the LCD if the screen is off. The display shows per-port and total power in real time and can be turned off without interrupting charging. Warmth during high-power operation is normal; the GaN circuitry includes intelligent temperature protection against overheating, overcurrent, overvoltage and short circuits. Use certified PD3.1 cables for 140W output, otherwise the charger will fall back to lower power levels.
