A 65-foot fiber DisplayPort cable for 8K

This VESA-certified DisplayPort 1.4 fiber optic cable carries 32.4 Gbps over 65 feet. It supports 8K at 60 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 240 Hz, 1440p at 240 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz with Dynamic HDR and HDCP 2.2. The slim, flexible fiber construction keeps the link stable at distances where copper cables would fail. It connects PCs, laptops, monitors, projectors and HDTVs with full-size DisplayPort ports.

Copper DisplayPort cables cannot reach 65 feet

Copper implementations of DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 typically max out around ten to fifteen feet before signal loss forces a drop to lower resolutions or refresh rates. Fiber optics eliminate that distance penalty, so the cable maintains the full 32.4 Gbps link across the entire 65-foot run. The trade-off is a directional design: one connector is marked for the source and the other for the display, and the cable must be installed in that orientation.

Replaces active copper extenders

Builders who previously daisy-chained active copper boosters or accepted 4K at 60 Hz over long runs can now run a single passive fiber cable at 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz. The jump is worth it when the display sits far from the GPU — across a room, through conduit or in a sim-rig — and the application needs the full HBR3 bandwidth without compression or latency added by repeaters. It is not for installations that need tight bends under five-millimetre radius or for ports that only support DisplayPort 1.2 or earlier.
