Aibilangose 2.5Gb USB-A & USB-C to Ethernet Adapter

What this adapter does

The Aibilangose 2.5Gb adapter adds a wired RJ45 network port to devices that only have USB. It carries both USB-A and USB-C plugs on one unit so you can move it between laptops, tablets and phones without carrying two separate dongles. The Realtek RTL8156B chip handles the conversion and is recognised automatically by Windows 11 and macOS. It weighs 1.21 ounces and draws power from the USB port itself.

When the 2.5Gbps step up matters

The link runs at up to 2.5 gigabits per second, which is 2.5 times the throughput of a classic 1000 megabit connection. You only see that speed if the router, switch or NAS at the other end and the Ethernet cable all support 2.5Gbps; otherwise the adapter falls back to 10, 100 or 1000 megabits automatically. Windows 10, Windows 8 and older systems need the RTL8156B driver installed before the higher rate appears. The adapter is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch.

Limits of the USB 3.0 interface

The adapter uses USB 3.0 bandwidth, so the 2.5Gbps Ethernet ceiling can only be reached on a USB 3.0 or newer port; a USB 2.0 port will cap throughput far lower. Driver installation is required for Windows 7 and for 2.5Gbps operation on Windows 10 or 8, while Windows 11 and macOS work without extra software. An LED shows link and activity status so you can verify the connection at a glance.
