Four-track recording

The Zoom H5 Handy Recorder captures four tracks simultaneously and accepts interchangeable input capsules for flexible microphone selection. It records directly to SD or SDHC cards with a maximum capacity of 32 GB. A large backlit LCD display provides clear visibility during operation. Built-in editing functions include normalize, divide, and trim.

140 dB SPL capability

The included XYH-5 X/Y capsule uses two matched unidirectional condenser microphones set at a 90-degree angle. An advanced shockmount with rugged external mic wires and rubberized material isolates the capsule from the body to minimize vibration and handling noise. This design handles sound pressure levels up to 140 dB SPL, equivalent to a jet aircraft from less than 200 feet away, enabling louder and cleaner capture than previous Handy Recorder models.

Voice memo marks

Voice memo recordings support up to 99 marks per file for easy navigation during playback. The recorder suits podcasting, broadcasting, electronic newsgathering, and audio-for-video production where multitrack flexibility is required. It is not suited for users needing more than four simultaneous tracks or storage beyond 32 GB cards. Those requiring built-in wireless connectivity or internal storage should consider other solutions.
