The WindTech MM-19 is a microphone wind muff designed to fit the Azden ECZ-990 and Shriber SA-568 models. It slips over the existing foam windscreen and secures with a Velcro closure. The accessory targets streamers, field recordists and video creators who need cleaner outdoor audio without replacing their current microphone. Its acoustically transparent fur preserves the original frequency response while reducing wind interference.

Practical limits of the slip-on design

The muff adds a 3/4-inch fur layer that diffuses moving air before it reaches the foam screen beneath. In testing it delivered up to 20db of wind-noise reduction in a 20 MPH wind with virtually no negative effect on frequency response. Because it relies on the original windscreen for the primary seal, it cannot compensate for a damaged or missing foam insert. Users who require a self-contained windshield or a different mounting method will need a separate solution.

Capacity and headroom for outdoor recording

The 19 model handles moderate gusts typical of on-location interviews, vlogging and live streaming. Its 20db reduction figure indicates comfortable headroom for steady breezes and sudden gusts up to the tested speed. In sustained high-wind environments or when the microphone is pointed directly into the airflow, the muff can reach its attenuation limit and residual rumble may become audible. It is not intended for extreme weather protection or as a substitute for a full blimp system.
