Practical limits of compression connection

The compression fitting seals on the tubing without soldering, but it requires the tube end to be cut square and deburred. Maximum working pressure is 100 psi and maximum water temperature is 140 Degrees F. At 50 psi supply the valve passes 1.5 gpm, rising to 3 gpm at 100 psi. Systems running above 100 psi or hotter than 140 Degrees F exceed the rated envelope. The 1/4-20 rod thread is not compatible with metric threaded floats.

Build quality and daily mounting implications

The bronze valve body and brass rod resist corrosion in typical cooler water conditions. A transparent float lets you confirm buoyancy and spot debris without disassembly. Bulkhead mounting through a 3/4 inch opening with a 12 inch overall length sets the float position relative to the tank wall. The fixed rod length of 5 3/4 in means the shut-off level cannot be adjusted by bending the rod. Tanks needing a different float height or a side-inlet configuration require a different valve design.
