This Watts 909 M1 kit provides the internal components needed to restore the first check valve on a backflow preventer. It is intended for maintenance technicians and facility managers who service potable-water protection assemblies in commercial or institutional plumbing systems. The kit includes the cover O-ring, disc assembly, spring assembly and lubricant required for a complete rebuild.

Practical limits of the assembly

The repair parts are sized for valves in the 1-1/4 to 2 inch range and are designed only for the Watts Series 909 M1 body. They will not fit other series, other brands or larger valve bodies, so the installer must verify the exact model and size before disassembly. California Proposition 65 warnings apply because the kit contains a chemical known to the state to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Replaces worn internal components

This kit replaces the original cover O-ring, disc assembly and spring assembly when they have degraded from age, debris or pressure cycling. The jump is worth it when the first check valve fails its annual test or shows leakage, allowing the assembly to return to service without replacing the entire valve body. It is not for installations that require a second check valve repair or a different valve series.
