USB 2.0 9-pin header splitter for internal expansion

This adapter converts a single motherboard USB 2.0 9-pin header into two usable ports. It is aimed at builders who need extra internal USB connections for front-panel ports, card readers or other headers. Capacity and headroom at 480 Mbps

The hub supports USB 2.0 transfer rates up to 480 Mbps and falls back to 12 Mbps for USB 1.1 devices. It handles typical low-bandwidth peripherals such as keyboards, mice, printers and scanners without bottleneck. The single upstream header shares total bandwidth between both downstream ports, so simultaneous high-throughput transfers will contend for the 480 Mbps limit. This splitter replaces the need to choose between two internal USB devices when only one 9-pin header is free.
