Use Case and Limits

The card suits users adding legacy PCI capture, sound or parallel-port cards to a system that only offers a Mini PCI-e connection. It draws less than 16 W and needs no external power brick, using onboard SATA and DC 5.5 connectors for supplemental power instead. Builders who require more than two PCI slots or need a different host interface such as full-size PCI-e should look elsewhere.

Power Delivery

Solid capacitor filtering on the PCI slot supply lets the board operate in high and low temperature environments. The 16 W ceiling and dual onboard power inputs give flexibility for cards with higher draw, but the total power budget remains the deciding factor for which PCI devices can be used together.
