Seven USB 3.0 ports on PCIe 2.0

This Vszerda add-in card brings seven USB 3.0 ports to a desktop PC through a single PCI Express 2.0 slot. It is aimed at users who need many high-speed peripherals such as external drives, cameras or VR sensors at once. A 15-pin SATA power connector feeds the ports so that heavy loads do not draw from the slot alone.

5 Gbps shared bandwidth ceiling

The card conforms to the USB 3.0 standard with a 5 Gbps signalling rate per port, but all seven ports share the upstream PCIe 2.0 x1 link. Real-world throughput drops when multiple devices transfer simultaneously, and the link cannot exceed the 5 Gbps aggregate limit. Each port can supply 5 V at 2 A for charging or bus-powered devices.

Replaces smaller USB brackets or hubs

Builders who have exhausted motherboard headers or need more ports than a typical bracket provides will gain seven ports in one slot. The jump is worthwhile when four or more USB 3.0 devices must run together; fewer devices see little benefit over a simple header cable.
