2.5GBase-T PCIe Network Adapter

The Vszerda network card adds a single RJ-45 port that operates at 100, 1000 or 2500 Mbps over standard twisted-pair cabling. It installs in any PCI Express x1, x2, x4, x8 or x16 slot using a PCIe 2.1 x1 electrical connection. The Realtek RTL8125 controller handles WOL, PXE, DPDK, VLAN and Jumbo Frame functions. Desktop users and small-server builders who need faster wired throughput than 1 Gbit can use this adapter.

Thermals noise and power draw

The card draws power only from the PCIe slot and has no onboard fan, so it runs silently in normal operation. Passive cooling relies on chassis airflow across the controller and PCB. Power consumption stays within the PCIe x1 slot budget during typical 2.5 Gbit traffic loads. No external power connector is required, keeping cabling simple for compact builds.

Upgrade path and when it matters

This adapter replaces an onboard 1 Gbit Ethernet port or an older PCIe 1 Gbit card, delivering 2.5 Gbit speeds without rewiring existing Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables. The jump is worthwhile when a 2.5 Gbit switch or router is already present and the workload saturates 1 Gbit links, such as large file transfers or local backup streams. It does not add multi-gig ports beyond the single RJ-45 connection, so buyers needing multiple 2.5 Gbit links or fibre connectivity should look elsewhere.
