The Vivitar FL23+15X is a 15x macro attachment that clips onto most smartphones and includes a 17mm thread adapter for stacking additional lenses. It targets mobile photographers who want extreme close-ups of eyelashes, eyes, lips, nails, plants or small animals without carrying a dedicated camera. The unit combines the optic and illumination in one compact housing. Manual focus lets the user fine-tune the working distance for each subject.

Clip-on design with threaded expansion

The lens mounts directly on the phone camera and the supplied 17mm adapter also accepts 37mm threaded accessories, so users can add filters or converters without removing the macro. A 350 mAh battery charges via Type-C and powers the integrated light for up to two hours at full output. Because the light is built in, no external LED panel or power bank is required for typical tabletop or field sessions. The fixed optical design means there is no zoom mechanism to calibrate.

Sustained illumination and thermal behaviour

Forty cold-and-warm LEDs deliver three colour temperatures and three brightness steps, maintaining consistent output for the rated two-hour runtime at 100 per cent brightness. The larger LED beads are specified to match the intensity of 80 conventional small beads, reducing the need to push the module to its thermal limit during extended shoots. Button controls avoid accidental mode changes while the lens is hand-held. After the battery depletes, a recharge pause is required before continuing.
