ProPress 2918 Reducing Tee

The Viega ProPress 2918 is a copper reducing tee designed for potable water systems. It connects two 1-1/2 inch copper tubes to a 1 inch branch using press-fit connections on all three ends. The fitting includes a center stop dimple and an EPDM O-ring on each port. It is intended for professional plumbers and installers working on residential or commercial water supply lines.

Press-Fit Limits at 200 psi

The press-fit joints rely on a compatible pressing tool and correctly sized jaws to form a permanent seal. The fitting is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi and must be used with copper tubing that meets the required dimensional tolerances. EPDM O-rings limit compatibility to water applications and exclude oils, fuels or high-temperature steam. The reducing geometry creates a fixed flow transition that cannot be altered after installation.

Copper Press Installation

Installation requires a calibrated press tool and the correct jaw set for 1-1/2 inch and 1 inch sizes. The tube ends must be cut square, deburred and marked to the proper insertion depth before pressing. Common issues include incomplete press cycles, misaligned jaws or contaminated O-ring seats, any of which can prevent a leak-free joint. The center stop dimple helps position the tubes but does not replace depth marking. Once pressed, the connection cannot be disassembled or rotated.
