The Viega MegaPress 45 elbow is a crimp press-fit fitting designed for non-potable water piping systems. It connects two half-inch steel pipes at a forty-five degree angle using the MegaPress jointing method. Professional installers and maintenance crews use it to change direction in hydronic, compressed-air or industrial fluid lines where soldering or threading is impractical. The zinc nickel-plated steel body resists corrosion in typical mechanical-room environments.

Press-fit joint limits

The press-fit connection relies on an EPDM O-ring seal and a cold-formed mechanical crimp rather than threads or heat. This method is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi and a maximum operating temperature of 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Exceeding either limit can compromise the seal integrity and lead to leakage. The fitting carries no bolt-hole pattern or flange, so it cannot be adapted to flanged equipment or bolted assemblies without additional components.

Capacity and headroom

The half-inch nominal bore suits branch lines and terminal connections in heating, cooling or compressed-air networks up to the rated pressure and temperature. It handles standard glycol mixes, lubricated air and non-potable water without degrading the EPDM seal. The fitting is not intended for potable water service, gas distribution or steam lines above 250 degrees Fahrenheit, and it offers no provision for inspection ports or drainage taps.
