Press-fit copper cap for 4-inch systems

The Viega 20848 is a press-fit copper cap designed to terminate 4-inch copper tubing in potable-water installations. It meets CRN, CSA, FM, IAPMO, ICC, NFPA 13D, NFPA 13R, NSF/ANSI 372, NSF/ANSI 61, PHCC and UL standards for safe water service. The fitting is rated for 200 psi and temperatures from 0 to 250 degrees F. It arrives new and ready for professional assembly.

Copper body with EPDM seal and press connection

The fitting body is copper and uses an EPDM O-ring that seals when pressed with a compatible tool. A 2 3/4-inch overall length keeps the joint compact in tight mechanical rooms. Press-fit connection removes the need for solder, flux or open flame on site. The cap includes no center stop, so the tube seats fully against the fitting shoulder.

Replaces soldered or threaded caps on copper mains

This cap upgrades from sweat or threaded closures by cutting installation time and eliminating fire-hazard permits. The jump is worth it on projects where press tools are already approved and speed or flameless work is required. It does not suit installers who lack a press tool calibrated for 4-inch copper or who need a fitting with an integrated center stop.
