Capacity and headroom

The 5B diameter provides comfortable headroom for louder rock, pop and marching volumes where 5A sticks might feel too light. Hickory construction absorbs shock and resists chipping during energetic sessions. They run out of headroom for extremely heavy hitters who need the mass of a 2B or rock model for maximum projection and durability.

Wood tip and taper limits

Back-cut wood tips produce a rich, full-bodied sound on drums and a defined ping on cymbals, but they wear faster than nylon tips on abrasive cymbal surfaces.
