2-1/2" FNPT Galvanized Cap for Pipe Closure

This galvanized malleable iron cap seals a 2-1/2 inch female NPT pipe end. It is rated for water, oil and gas service up to 300 psi at 150 degrees Fahrenheit and for saturated steam up to 150 psi. The fitting meets ASME B16.3 and B16.4 dimensions and carries FM, UL, NSF-61 and AB1953 approvals for potable water systems.

Sustained Pressure and Temperature Performance

Under continuous operating pressure the Class 150 fitting maintains its seal up to the rated 300 psi WOG limit. The galvanized coating resists corrosion during long-term exposure to water and condensate. The malleable iron body conforms to ASTM A197 and ASTM A47 standards, providing consistent mechanical strength through thermal cycles without cracking or thread deformation.

Thermal and Corrosion Behaviour in Service

The galvanized surface protects the iron from rust in normal plumbing environments. At the maximum rated temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit the cap remains within its design envelope for both pressure and steam duty. No external power or cooling is required; the fitting simply threads onto the pipe and relies on thread engagement and sealant for a leak-free joint.
