This 37mm combination filter merges a neutral-density ND64 element with a circular polariser for photographers who need both light reduction and glare control in a single glass. The ND64 density of 1.8 blocks a fixed 6 f-stops of light, enabling slower shutter speeds for long-exposure motion blur or wider apertures for shallow depth of field in bright conditions. The polarising layer cuts polarised reflections from water, glass and non-metallic surfaces, delivering up to 99.9% elimination of reflected light for richer colour saturation and contrast.

Practical limits of ND64 CPL combination

The fixed 6-stop density cannot be adjusted, so exposure changes require swapping filters or altering camera settings. Polarisation effect varies with the angle to the light source and must be rotated manually for each composition. The combined optical stack adds two glass surfaces, which can increase flare risk when shooting directly into strong light sources. Vignetting may appear on ultra-wide lenses at the 37mm thread size, especially when stacking additional filters on the front thread.

Installation and common issues

The ultra-slim rim and double-threaded design allow the filter to screw onto the lens front thread while accepting a lens cap or another 37mm filter on its front thread. Align the filter carefully to avoid cross-threading the fine aluminium threads. Rotate the outer ring to dial in the desired polarisation angle after mounting. The 20-layer nano-coating repels water and oil, but abrasive particles trapped during wiping can still scratch the glass; rinse or blow off grit before cleaning.
