Rear air-spring conversion kit

The Unity 22-515000-R Rear Conversion Kit replaces factory air springs with passive steel-spring components. It fits 2002-2013 Cadillac Escalade, 2003-2012 Escalade ESV, 2002-2012 Escalade EXT, 2007-2012 Chevrolet Avalanche, 2002-2006 Avalanche 1500, 2000-2012 Suburban 1500, 2000-2012 Tahoe, 2000-2012 GMC Yukon and 2000-2013 Yukon XL 1500 models. The kit includes resistors to prevent dashboard warning lights. It is aimed at owners who want to eliminate air-suspension maintenance.

Bolt-on installation with included resistors

The kit mounts to existing chassis points using standard hand tools, so a professional lift is not required. Resistors plug into the original wiring harness to keep the vehicle’s electronic control module from triggering fault codes. The most common issue is seized factory mounting bolts on high-mileage trucks, which can add time if penetrating oil or heat is needed. Clearance around the upper shock mount should be checked before final torque.

Passive suspension replaces adaptive damping

Converting to steel springs removes the automatic load-levelling and ride-height adjustment provided by the original air system. The rear ride height becomes fixed and will not compensate for varying cargo or trailer tongue weight. Electronic damping control, if equipped on the donor vehicle, is also disabled because the air-spring pressure signals are no longer present. Buyers who need adjustable rear height or automatic load levelling should retain the factory air suspension.
