GPON SFP module for OLT C+ deployments

This Ubiquiti Networks UF-GP-C+ module plugs into an SFP slot on a GPON OLT to deliver a Class C+ link over a single fibre strand. It is aimed at ISPs and network operators extending fibre-to-the-premises services where the ITU-T G.984.2 C+ budget matches the planned split ratio and reach. The transceiver handles both directions on one wavelength pair, simplifying outside-plant cabling.

Asymmetric 2.488 Gbps downstream

The ITU-T G.984.2 GPON standard fixes the line rates at 2.488 Gbps transmit and 1.244 Gbps receive, so aggregate throughput cannot exceed those figures. Burst-mode reception at 1310 nm and continuous-mode transmission at 1490 nm share the single fibre, meaning wavelength planning must avoid overlap with other PON services. Digital diagnostics expose RSSI and signal-detect status but do not alter the fundamental rate ceiling.

SC/UPC receptacle on a hot-pluggable SFP housing

The module draws power from a single 3.3 V supply and fits standard SFP cages, allowing insertion or removal without powering down the chassis. An SC/UPC connector mates with standard patch cords, so existing single-mode fibre plant can be reused. The 2-wire management interface reports temperature, voltage and optical levels, helping technicians verify link health during installation and routine maintenance.
