The Ubiquiti UACC-OM-SFP28-SR is a 25 Gbps SFP28 transceiver built for multi-mode fiber links. It targets network operators and integrators who need 25 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity inside a building or campus environment. The module uses an LC duplex interface for straightforward patching into compatible switches and servers. It is not suited for single-mode fiber runs or longer-haul applications.

Multi-mode Distance Constraints

Multi-mode fiber limits the practical reach of this 25GBase-SR module to short-range connections typically found within a single building. Signal attenuation and modal dispersion restrict link length compared to single-mode alternatives. The LC duplex connector ensures standard compatibility but does not extend the inherent distance ceiling of the SR standard. Deployments requiring extended campus or metro distances need a different optic type.

25 Gigabit Throughput Headroom

The module delivers 25 Gbps line-rate throughput for high-bandwidth server uplinks, storage fabrics and aggregation layers. It comfortably handles sustained data transfers, video streaming workloads and east-west traffic in dense rack environments. Headroom diminishes when cable quality degrades or when link budgets are exceeded by excessive patch-panel loss. The SR design prioritises cost-effective density over maximum reach.
