Wall-outlet mesh extender

The BeaconHD is a UniFi access point that plugs directly into an AC wall outlet to extend wireless coverage in hard-to-reach areas. It establishes bidirectional uplinks to nearby UniFi access points without requiring separate power cabling or mounting hardware. This plug-in design suits homes and small offices where running Ethernet to ceiling locations is impractical. The unit delivers a 5 GHz 802.11ac Wave 2 radio rated at 1.733 Gbps throughput using 4x4 MU-MIMO.

Replaces dead-zone repeaters

Unlike simple repeaters that halve bandwidth, this mesh point maintains a dedicated uplink to the main UniFi network while serving clients on the same radio. The jump is worth it when a single router leaves rooms with weak signal but a wired backhaul to those rooms is not feasible. It improves the radio rate of nearby WiFi devices by providing a stronger local access point. The device first appeared on the manufacturer listing on October 9, 2022.

Fits any standard socket

The BeaconHD occupies one AC outlet and protrudes into the room, so adjacent sockets may be blocked depending on the wall plate layout. It requires a UniFi controller and at least one other UniFi AP to form the mesh uplink. No PoE switch or injector is needed because power comes from the mains socket. The compact form factor frees up ceiling or wall space that a traditional access point would occupy.
