This tuphen floor bed is sized for a queen mattress and built from pine and plywood with a natural finish. It is intended for children who are ready to sleep independently at floor level. Upgrade from Crib or Toddler Bed

The design replaces a traditional raised bed by removing the fall height and adding removable safety guardrails around the perimeter. A hinged door on the rail can be opened, closed or taken off entirely to suit the child's confidence level. The jump is worth it when a family wants a long-term bed that encourages autonomy without the risk of a high mattress. Eight plywood slats support the mattress and can be removed to place foam directly on the floor.

Limits of the Low-Profile Design

Without the slats the mattress rests on the floor, which reduces airflow underneath and may trap moisture in humid rooms. The guardrails are fixed in height, so they do not adjust as the child grows taller. The door hinge and latch are the only moving parts and will need occasional checking to stay secure. The pine frame is finished natural with no added colour, so surface marks from daily use will show over time.
