The Transition Networks SGPAT1013-105 is a transceiver media converter that connects a 1000 Mbit/s multi-mode fibre segment to a copper Ethernet port. It operates at an 850 nm wavelength and supports both 50/125 µm and 62.5/125 µm fibre standards. Network administrators use it to extend Gigabit Ethernet beyond copper distance limits in campus or building backbones.

Dual-port flexibility with PoE+ power

The unit provides two ports: one SFP fibre interface and one RJ-45 twisted-pair port that delivers PoE+ power. This combination lets you feed a wireless access point, IP camera or VoIP phone over the copper link while the fibre uplink carries data back to the core switch. No separate injector or external power supply is required for the powered device.

Check SFP slot compatibility and fibre type

Verify that your switch or router accepts an SFP transceiver and that the link budget matches 1000Base-SX or 1000Base-LX operation over multi-mode fibre. Confirm the existing cabling is either 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm core diameter. The converter does not support single-mode fibre or 10 Gbit/s speeds.
