An integrated IR blocker reduces infra-red pollution that can affect long exposures on crop sensors.

Capacity and headroom

The ND 3.0 density delivers a 10-stop reduction, giving ample headroom for creative motion blur or shallow depth of field in full sun. It reaches its limit when lighting demands exceed that 10-stop range, requiring either a stronger filter or a different exposure strategy. The IR-blocking layer handles typical long-exposure infra-red contamination but cannot correct colour shifts caused by extreme heat sources.

How it fits

The filter threads directly onto any lens with a 72mm front thread, adding protection against dust and scratches while in place. It frees the photographer from stopping down to diffraction-limited apertures or using excessively fast shutter speeds in daylight. Lenses with a different thread diameter will need a step-up or step-down ring, which is not included.
