Four Gigabit ports on one PCI-e x1 slot

This Syba SI-PEX24042 network card adds four Gigabit Ethernet connections to a desktop, server or workstation through a single PCI Express x1 slot. It uses the RTL8111 chipset and complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab standards. The card supports 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps auto-negotiation and full-duplex operation. A low-profile bracket is included for small-form-factor builds.

Administrators who need separate LANs for management, storage, backup and guest traffic can run four isolated links from one expansion slot. Wake-on-LAN support allows remote power-on of attached systems. Builders requiring 2.5 Gigabit, 10 Gigabit or fibre uplinks should look at a different adapter because this card is limited to 1 Gigabit per port.

Four 1 Gbps links with 2.5 Gbps host throughput

Each port delivers up to 1000 Mbps full-duplex, so four simultaneous gigabit streams are available at the network side. The PCI Express 1.1 x1 host interface provides 2.5 Gbps of aggregate bandwidth, which becomes the bottleneck when all four ports push heavy traffic at once. Light to moderate loads on all ports run comfortably; sustained line-rate on every port concurrently will saturate the host link.
