Embedded Server Board for Low-Power Workloads

The Supermicro X11SBA-LN4F is a Mini-ITX server motherboard with an on-board Intel Pentium N3700 processor soldered to the BGA-1170 socket. It targets compact, fanless or quiet embedded deployments such as network appliances, storage nodes or thin clients where a 6 W TDP ceiling matters more than raw compute throughput. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports plus a dedicated IPMI LAN give it strong remote-management density for its size.

Sustained Operation Within a 6 W Envelope

Because the CPU is limited to a 6 W TDP, the board maintains its base clocks indefinitely without thermal throttling, provided the chassis can dissipate that heat passively. The dual-channel DDR3-1600 SODIMM controller feeds both cores steadily, while the Aspeed AST2400 BMC handles monitoring and KVM-over-IP independently of the main processor. The single PCIe 2.0 x8 slot wired at x1 and the Mini PCIe slot with mSATA support add storage or networking without increasing the power budget.

Replaces Older Atom or Celeron Mini-ITX Boards

This board upgrades systems built around previous-generation embedded boards that lacked quad Gigabit LAN, IPMI or modern video outputs such as HDMI and DisplayPort. The jump is worthwhile when you need out-of-band management, four network interfaces and a supported UEFI platform in the same 17 cm square footprint. It does not suit workloads that require more than 8 GB of RAM, ECC memory, additional PCIe lanes or CPU performance beyond the N3700's four low-power cores.
