Secure charging cable

The StarTech USBSCHAC1M is a USB-A to USB-C charge-only cable that physically blocks data pins to prevent data theft, corruption, or malware transfer while charging smartphones, tablets, or headphones. It is intended for high-security environments such as corporate, defence, government, or education settings, as well as public charging stations in airports or hotels where data exposure is a risk. The 3 ft length provides convenient reach from USB-A wall chargers or computer ports.

Thermals noise and power draw

As a passive cable with no active electronics, it produces no noise and generates negligible heat during normal charging use. The cable delivers up to 5V at 2.4A for a maximum of 12W power output, suitable for standard charging of mobile devices. Nickel-plated connectors and an aluminum-mylar foil shield with drain wire maintain signal integrity for the power lines while the TPE jacket adds durability for repeated daily use.

Data blocking design

The absence of data pins in the USB-C connector is the sole functional feature; it enforces a power-only connection that stops spyware or malware attacks via the USB port. No bundled software, drivers, or accessories are included or required for this hardware-based protection to operate. The cable simply plugs into any USB-A host port to provide a secure charging path without enabling data transfer.
