The StarTech BRNCHLOCK adds a six-inch branch cable with a Kensington-standard lock head to any existing cable lock. It secures a second laptop or peripheral through the industry-standard K-Slot found on many notebooks and docking stations. The four-digit combination lock offers up to 10000 possible codes. This accessory suits offices or classrooms that need to anchor multiple devices to one anchor point.

Behaviour Under Daily Use

The short 2.5 cm branch keeps the secondary device close to the primary lock, reducing cable clutter and preventing the loop from snagging on desk edges. Because the lock head inserts directly into the K-Slot, the connection remains stable when the laptop is moved slightly during normal work sessions. The combination mechanism operates without keys, so there is no key to lose or misplace during shift changes.

Build Quality and Mounting Implications

The lock housing uses zinc alloy for cut resistance, while the package includes 1 mm, 2 mm and 3 mm foam spacers to accommodate different slot depths and chassis thicknesses. The loop end slides over the main cable lock, allowing installers to add or remove branches without tools. Multiple BRNCHLOCK units can be daisy-chained on a single anchor cable to protect several devices in a row.
