This engine tool detects abnormal combustion vibrations in the cylinder block. It sends a signal to the ECU so ignition timing can be retarded before damage occurs. Mechanics and DIY technicians fitting a replacement sensor on compatible vehicles will use this part.

Continuous vibration monitoring under load

During sustained high-load operation the sensor maintains its output signal as cylinder pressure rises. It does not rely on a short burst test; the piezoelectric element responds cycle after cycle across the engine speed range. The transparent housing shows the internal element without affecting the sensing function.

Practical limits of the knock detection interface

The sensor connects to the factory knock-sensor circuit, which expects a specific voltage range and frequency response. If the ECU calibration or wiring harness does not match those parameters the sensor cannot communicate knock events correctly. Orders of 75 or more ship free from the manufacturer.
